WE ARE WILLING TO WORK WITH YOU TO MAKE YOUR STAY ENJOYABLE.
Please let us know your specific needs and requests.
Welcome to Our Manistee Victorian, a 5-bedroom house on .67 acres of lawns and woods. It sits on a quiet street less than a mile from the beach and less than half a mile from Manistee’s graceful downtown. Manistee was, at the turn of the 20th century, the town with the most millionaires per capita in the entire USA, and consequently has a large number of Victorian era (1880-1910) graceful houses, often surrounded by extensive lawns and gardens.
Our Victorian, which has been carefully maintained and updated over the years, is painted in bright colors inside and out and furnished in hardwoods, with oak and maple flooring. Upstairs are 4 bedrooms and a bath with a clawfoot tub, period furniture and lots of bright watercolors and period art. Downstairs, a master bedroom with a private deck and a private bath looks out into seating areas and an off-street, secure parking area where your cars, boats, RVs (with electric hookups) and water toys can be out of harm’s way.
The custom kitchen is equipped for casual snacks or dining, and the mahogany table seats 8 comfortably with settings appropriate to the age of the house and its Victorian architecture.
A sunroom has a separate seating area with windows for ventilation, and out of direct sunlight. We supply WiFi at no cost, but we have no devices for watching TV or movies, although you may bring your own to watch quietly in the sunroom or in the privacy of your bedroom.
We rent the whole house to a single family at a time, for a minimum of 3 days, unless there are exceptional circumstances. Your children and pets are welcome. We do not keep fragile or hazardous objects in the house. We do not allow smoking on the property. No drugs or hazardous substances are allowed, for the safety of your family and of the neighbors. There is a fenced area for your dogs, who are safe there but must be quiet.
We intend this house to be a refuge for you. You are welcome to come back, year after year, to enjoy the beach; the town of Manistee and boating, fishing and swimming on the Manistee River, which reaches 167 miles into central Michigan, winding through forests and offering many camping spots for people who want to be alone with nature.
Special requests can be accommodated, and you are welcome to call the owner to discuss events; menus; outings; boat and bike rentals and museum, restaurant and special activity planning. We will help as much as we can, and help you to make contact with the thriving businesses of Manistee, its forests, lakes, rivers and beaches on Lake Michigan. Some catering can be arranged.
Welcome home.
